Most students target a Band 6.5 — but the truth is more nuanced. Some programmes accept 6.0, while top postgraduate courses need 7.0+. Here's how to plan your test prep.
UK: typical requirements - Russell Group: 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 - Most modern universities: 6.0 overall, no band below 5.5 - Medicine, Law, Education: 7.0 overall, no band below 7.0
Canada: typical requirements - U15 universities: 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 - Most others: 6.0 overall
Australia: typical requirements - Group of Eight: 6.5 overall, no band below 6.0 - Nursing: 7.0 overall, no band below 7.0
